Status and temporal change in the distribution of seagrass beds and coral reefs in the waters of Phu Quoc islands, Kien Giang province

To assess the status and changes in distribution of seagrass beds coral reefs Phu Quoc from 2005 to 2018, we utilized high-resolution multi-spectrum satellite images, aerial photographs, Google maps. We collected data three time periods: (using ASTER with 15 m resolution), 2010 SPOT5 10 2018 SENTINEL-2 resolution). also conducted an accuracy assessment 78 key sites March-April 2019, representing corals (25 sites), seagrasses (28 rocks (8 sand (12 sites) through SCUBA diving. The results showed that waters contained 513 ha 10,035 beds, 290 9,185 located within marine protected area. While area remained stable between experienced a significant decline 652 (6.1%), most losses occurring at Bai Vong (501 ha; 4.69%), Ong Doi cape - Dam Ngoai island (55 0.52%), Mot Island Vinh (42 0.4% each), Da Chong 0.12%). This is largely due recent infrastructure development for community tourism purposes, which has caused degradation beds.
